York City Sets Goal to Be First US City with Zero Plastic Waste
On May 30, York City made headlines by setting an ambitious goal to be the first city in the United States to achieve zero plastic waste. In strong collaboration with CRDC Global, York City will be setting up numerous new collection points across its urban landscape. Last year, CRDC Global established its first permanent factory in the United States in the City of York.
The initiative will redirect plastic waste into CRDC Global’s signatory “The Bag that Builds” program, which transforms plastic collected from households into RESIN 8, which is then used in construction projects. Thus, plastics collected will not only avoid landfill but also contribute to urban development.
Residents of York City eager to participate can dispose of their plastic waste at various designated locations across the city. These collection points accept all kinds of plastic, including those typically deemed unrecyclable, thereby maximizing waste diversion.
The city’s inaugural collection sites are located at the CRDC factory on 390 Eberts Lane and behind Refillism at 38 South Bever Street. Starting Tuesday, May 30, 2023, three new collection sites will be inaugurated. These include Yorktown Park on 1089 Kelly Drive, Hoffman Complex on 500 Rockdale Avenue, and Bantz Park at 798 Salem Avenue.
